Eufor Inter - Town of Saint-Hubert

Eufor Inter

In spring 2017, the town of Saint-Hubert was forced to issue a non-potability warning for its mains water supply. The water department worked tirelessly to find a sustainable solution (see public warning attached).

The media covered the topic ceaselessly for weeks on end...

Chlorine-resistant bacteria had been detected during preventive analyses: Clostridium and Giardia

For Giardia bacteria, the latest bacteriological analysis techniques are not able to determine whether the bacteria is active or successfully deactivated by UV disinfection, and hence inoffensive...

The preventive measures undertaken by the mayor of Saint-Hubert, under the advice of the AIVE (Association Intercommunale de Valorisation de l’Eau, Province of Luxembourg) included the decision to install 2 BERSON ultraviolet radiation disinfection systems. These systems are certified to completely disinfect a range of bacteria including Giardia, ultimately allowing the mains water supply to be declared fully drinkable again.

The following UV installations were delivered and commissioned by EUFOR INTER:

2 x BersonInLine© 450+ USEPA, guaranteeing the deactivation of Giardia to 4 log.

Today, Berson recommends choosing systems that have been certified by an approved organisation, e.g. the DVGW or the USEPA, for any drinking water treatment that requires quality and performance guarantees.

Berson has a wide range of certified UV systems which cover the requirements of a wide range of flow rates and water qualities (transmittance, UVT@254nm).

The best choice between low-pressure and medium-pressure UV-C (mercury vapour) lamp technologies depends on the requirements and the technical specifications of each project.
